Trend Maps

I ran across some interesting maps. They're not your usual geographical maps.

Web Trend Map of 2008
Below is an online & paper-based map of the most influential & successful websites in 2008, pinned down to the greater Tokyo-area train map.

That's pretty awesome. Man, this class is starting to get to me. Just looking at that map is overwhelming.

In response to your visually engaging map showing the top websites it is an interesting approach to the representation of this data. As described in our Art 468 textbook titled Envisioning Information by the author Tufte the representation of data information comes with an important price: How do I keep my audience engaged without causing clutter and confusion? This map design is a great approach but the execution of this approach creates clutter and confusion because you just don't know where to look first. The map as a whole is overwhelming.
